A few headlines...

Well the cubs dropped their second to the Blue Jays last night. Rather than review, I'm going to be lazy and just post a few links.

--JT and I were discussing this exact thing just yesterday saying how Pujols is leading all-star voting and Lee is a new kid on the block for most people...

So what's everybody think about this afternoon? Predictions?

Here's the pitching:
Mitre (0-1, 6.88 ERA) v. Halladay (9-2, 2.45 ERA)

Those are depressing numbers. How can a guy have eleven decisions a third of the way through the season? Anyway, we know Mitre is capable of performing. I'm just hoping he can get through the first couple of innings safely and keep his composure. If Mitre can keep his head, we have a good chance this afternoon (gotta stay optimistic). GO CUBBIES!!

Oh yeah, and hopefully the black cats stay away from Wrigley this afternoon...

Cats are Satin's minions on earth. Any Puritan will tell you that.

Mitre is so outclassed today that it is flatly dumbfounding. The Cubs should activate the high school kid they drafted and just pitch him. He can hit 96 on the radar and is probably just cocky enough not to be intimidated by the Jays.

Mitre is so outclassed, that he will probably pitch a no-hitter and Cy Young will probably give up loads of runs. I predict that this game will be unpredictable. The match up is too uneven, it's bound to not turn out the way it looks like it should.

While we're at it we might as well bring up Eric Patterson too, and put him in as a pinch runner in every game.

7.0 IP allowing two hits. I don't think we could have asked for a better performance from Mitre...

Game's not done yet, but man can Mitre turn up the heat. "Beat" the Rocket in their heads-up matchup (though didn't get the win), and is (currently) on top of another MLB ace, Halladay who was also nasty today. (His loss was against ANOTHER top pitcher, Adam Eaton. Dusty's really giving him some rough duels in his major league time!)

More about Mitre: insane groundout-to-flyout ratio of 2.93 in his career (this season: 41 groundouts vs. 19 flyouts)

Today: 24 batters faced, 15 groundouts, 0 flyouts, 6 strikeouts. Insane. Good for Sergio!

(Wuertz just got a clutch strikeout with 1 on, 2 outs on a 3-2 count also... bottom 8, 2-0 cubbies)
